Position Overview:
We are looking for a distinguished individual to take on the role of Chair of Bioanalytics and Data Science, also serving as a member of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology - Bioanalytics and Bioprocesses institute branch IZI-BB. The ideal candidate will possess a robust international reputation for outstanding research in bioanalytics integrated with data science.

Research Focus:
The successful applicant will concentrate on intricate data analysis, employing mathematical techniques to innovate processes within the realms of analytical and bio-chemistry. This includes the development of intelligent sensors, bio/chemosensors, and the optimization of bioprocesses.

Required Expertise:
Applicants should have a strong foundation in natural sciences, process or automation engineering, and a solid grasp of mathematics and computer science. Proficiency in analytical chemistry, particularly with an emphasis on chemometrics and artificial intelligence, is crucial.

Research Applications:
The candidate is expected to engage in research targeting medical applications, especially in digital point-of-care diagnostics and the identification and validation of biomarkers relevant to geriatric medicine.

Collaboration and Networking:
Research topics should align with the strategic scientific priorities of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, fostering extensive collaboration with research entities and industry partners in the Berlin-Brandenburg area.

Strategic Relationships:
In this role, you will cultivate strategic partnerships between the Faculty of Health Sciences, the university, and the Fraunhofer Institute, linking core research themes with applied research, development, and technology transfer.

Leadership Role:
At the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology IZI, you will assume a leadership position within the Bioanalytics and Bioprocesses institute branch at the Potsdam-Golm site.

Teaching Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to new academic programs, particularly the English-language master’s program in Public Health, Exercise, and Nutrition, and will represent the comprehensive scope of bioanalytics and data science within the life sciences.

Qualifications:
A well-established national and international network, along with demonstrated teaching capabilities, are essential. A strong history of securing publicly funded grants and managing industry projects, including strategic planning and successful execution, is expected.

Interdisciplinary Management:
Experience in leading interdisciplinary research teams is a vital qualification for this position. You should be adept at establishing efficient processes for the targeted execution of large-scale research and development initiatives. The ability to translate and leverage research outcomes into innovative products is a key motivational factor.
