The Universität Potsdam is seeking a distinguished academic to fill the role of Professor of Bioanalytics and Data Science. This position is integral to the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology, specifically within the Bioanalytics and Bioprocesses division.
Research Focus: The ideal candidate will possess a robust international research portfolio in bioanalytics coupled with data science. We are particularly interested in individuals who specialize in:
- Complex data analysis utilizing mathematical methodologies.
- Development of innovative processes in analytical or bio-chemistry.
- Creation of intelligent sensors and bio/chemosensors.
- Optimization of bioprocesses.
Qualifications: Candidates should have a strong foundation in natural sciences, process or automation engineering, and an understanding of mathematics and computer science. Expertise in analytical chemistry, particularly in chemometrics and artificial intelligence, is essential.
Research Applications: The successful applicant will lead research initiatives focusing on medical applications, especially in digital point-of-care diagnostics and the identification and validation of biomarkers relevant to geriatric medicine.
Collaboration and Networking: Research topics should align with the scientific objectives of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Universität Potsdam and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, facilitating collaboration with research entities and industry partners in the Berlin-Brandenburg area.
Strategic Development: This role will involve establishing strategic partnerships between the Faculty of Health Sciences, the university, and the Fraunhofer Institute, linking core research themes with applied research and development.
Teaching Responsibilities: The successful candidate will contribute to new academic programs, particularly the English-language master’s program in Public Health, Exercise, and Nutrition, and will represent the comprehensive scope of bioanalytics and data science within the life sciences.

The candidate should demonstrate the ability to establish effective processes for the successful execution of large-scale research and development initiatives.
