Position Overview

The Universität Potsdam is seeking a highly qualified individual for the role of Professor of Bioanalytics and Data Science. This position also entails active participation as a member of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology, specifically within the Bioanalytics and Bioprocesses branch.

Research Focus

We are looking for candidates with a robust international research portfolio in bioanalytics integrated with data science. The ideal applicant will focus on:

  • Complex data analysis utilizing mathematical methodologies.
  • Development of innovative processes in analytical and bio-chemistry.
  • Creation of intelligent sensors and bio/chemosensors.
  • Optimization of bioprocesses.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess expertise in:

  • Natural sciences or process engineering.
  • Automation engineering with a solid foundation in mathematics and computer science.
  • Analytical chemistry with a focus on chemometrics and artificial intelligence.
Research Expectations

The successful candidate will conduct pioneering research in medical applications, particularly in:

  • Digital point-of-care diagnostics.
  • Identification and validation of biomarkers for geriatric medicine.
Collaboration and Teaching

Your research should align with the scientific priorities of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Universität Potsdam and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, fostering extensive collaboration with research entities and industry partners in the Berlin-Brandenburg area.

In this role, you will establish strategic partnerships between the Faculty of Health Sciences, the university, and the Fraunhofer Institute, linking essential research themes with applied research and development initiatives.

Additionally, you will contribute to the teaching of new programs, particularly the English-language master's program in Public Health, Exercise, and Nutrition, showcasing the full spectrum of bioanalytics and data science within the life sciences.
