This position also entails active participation as a member of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology, specifically within the Bioanalytics and Bioprocesses branch.
Research FocusWe are looking for candidates with a robust international reputation in research, particularly in the intersection of bioanalytics and data science. The ideal applicant will have a research emphasis on:
- Complex data analysis utilizing mathematical methodologies.
- Development of processes in analytical and bio-chemistry.
- Creation of intelligent sensors and bio/chemosensors.
- Optimization of bioprocesses.
Essential qualifications include:
- Expertise in natural sciences, process or automation engineering.
- Strong foundation in mathematics and computer science.
- Background in analytical chemistry with a focus on chemometrics and artificial intelligence.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct pioneering research on medical applications, especially in digital point-of-care diagnostics.
- Identify and validate biomarkers relevant to geriatric medicine.
- Align research topics with the strategic focuses of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
- Foster collaborations with research partners and industry stakeholders in the Berlin-Brandenburg region.
In addition to research responsibilities, the appointee will:
- Teach in innovative programs, particularly the English-language master’s program in Public Health, Exercise, and Nutrition.
- Represent the comprehensive scope of bioanalytics and data science within the life sciences.
- Demonstrate proven teaching capabilities and maintain a strong national and international network.
The ideal candidate will have a strong record of:
- Securing publicly funded grants and managing industry projects.
- Leading interdisciplinary research teams effectively.
- Establishing efficient processes for the execution of large-scale research and development initiatives.
- Translating research outcomes into innovative products.
This role is pivotal in bridging core research with applied research, development, and technology transfer at the Fraunhofer Institute.
