Position Overview

The Universität Potsdam is seeking a distinguished individual for the role of Professor of Bioanalytics and Data Science. This position also entails active participation as a member of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology, specifically within the Bioanalytics and Bioprocesses branch.

Research Focus

We are looking for candidates with a proven international record of outstanding research in the domains of bioanalytics integrated with data science. The ideal applicant will have a research emphasis on:

  • Complex data analysis utilizing mathematical methodologies.
  • Development of processes in analytical and bio-chemistry.
  • Creation of intelligent sensors and bio/chemosensors.
  • Optimization of bioprocesses.
Qualifications

Essential qualifications include:

  • Expertise in natural sciences, process or automation engineering.

  • Background in analytical chemistry with a focus on chemometrics and artificial intelligence.
Research Applications

  • Digital point-of-care diagnostics.
  • Identification and validation of biomarkers for geriatric medicine.
Collaboration and Networking

Your research should align with the scientific priorities of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Universität Potsdam and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, facilitating extensive collaboration with research partners and industry stakeholders in the Berlin-Brandenburg area.

Strategic Relationships

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in establishing strategic connections between the Faculty of Health Sciences, the university, and the Fraunhofer Institute, linking core research themes with applied research, development, and transfer at Fraunhofer.

Teaching Responsibilities

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology, you will hold a leadership position in the Bioanalytics and Bioprocesses branch at the Potsdam-Golm site. You will also be responsible for teaching in innovative programs at the faculty, particularly the English-language master’s program in Public Health, Exercise, and Nutrition, representing the full spectrum of bioanalytics and data science within the life sciences.

Professional Experience

A robust national and international network, along with demonstrated teaching capabilities, are expected. Candidates should possess a strong history of securing publicly funded grants and managing industry projects, showcasing strategic planning, acquisition, and successful execution.

Leadership and Management
