Position Overview:
We are seeking a distinguished individual to take on the role of Professor of Bioanalytics and Data Science, also serving as a member of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology. This position requires a robust international reputation in research, particularly in the integration of bioanalytics with data science methodologies.

Research Focus:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong emphasis on complex data analysis, utilizing mathematical techniques to innovate processes within analytical and bio-chemistry. Areas of expertise should include the development of intelligent sensors, bio/chemosensors, and the optimization of bioprocesses. A comprehensive understanding of natural sciences, process engineering, automation, mathematics, and computer science is essential.

Medical Applications:
The successful candidate will engage in research aimed at medical applications, focusing on digital point-of-care diagnostics and the identification and validation of biomarkers relevant to geriatric medicine.

Collaboration and Networking:
Research topics should align with the scientific priorities of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Potsdam and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, facilitating extensive collaboration with research entities and businesses in the Berlin-Brandenburg area.

Strategic Relationships:
In this role, you will be instrumental in establishing strategic partnerships between the Faculty of Health Sciences, the university, and the Fraunhofer Institute, linking core research themes with applied research and development initiatives.

The candidate will also be responsible for teaching within new academic programs, particularly the English-language master’s program in Public Health, Exercise, and Nutrition, and will represent the comprehensive scope of bioanalytics and data science within the life sciences.

A proven track record in securing publicly funded grants and managing industry projects is essential, alongside experience in leading interdisciplinary research teams. The ability to establish efficient processes for the execution of large-scale research and development projects is critical.
