OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE:

This role is integral to advancing FMCNA's mission, vision, and core values while upholding the highest standards of customer service. The Master Social Worker (MSW) will play a pivotal role in assisting patients to reach their psychosocial objectives and will oversee the provision of superior behavioral health services by guiding facility master social workers in designated regions. This position serves as a vital resource and expert in collaboration with facility MSWs and other quality team members to enhance patient clinical and quality health outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Acts as a primary expert in psychosocial issues, collaborating with fellow MSWs and Area Quality Team members to identify opportunities for clinical quality enhancement in the designated area, ensuring compliance with CMS Conditions for Coverage and FMS quality program standards. Oversees the implementation of Quality and Social Work initiatives, interventions, and standardized educational materials in collaboration with facility MSWs in the assigned region. Provides strategic direction and social work insights based on established theoretical frameworks and professional standards, assisting facility MSWs in achieving targeted outcomes in quality, patient satisfaction, teamwork, unit culture, and employee morale. Leads, mentors, and develops direct reports to foster an engaged and effective workforce, collaborating with Human Resources on personnel matters. Ensures adequate staffing of Social Work Services, managing coverage for master social workers during periods of absence, increased patient census, and vacancies. Facilitates the orientation and training of new master social workers in the area, working alongside Clinical Educators, Regional MSW Managers, and facility social work teams to provide ongoing education and support for existing staff. Participates in regional, area, facility, and team meetings, contributing to quality team building and staff development efforts while collaborating with management to foster effective interdisciplinary relationships. Reviews and audits Social Work Progress Notes, Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Assessments, Plans of Care, and other documentation to ensure compliance with CMS Conditions for Coverage and FMS policies. Ensures that all master social workers in the assigned area maintain current licensure and fulfill continuing education requirements as mandated by the Association Social Work Board and state regulations. Regularly monitors the registration and licensure status of direct reports. Performs additional related duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands and characteristics of the work environment are representative of those encountered while performing essential job functions. The work environment is typical of a healthcare facility, featuring controlled air temperature and moderate noise levels. Exposure to infectious materials may occur. Travel between assigned facilities and various community locations is required, along with potential travel for regional, division, and corporate meetings.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the direct oversight of facility master social workers within the designated area.

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:

Master’s degree in Social Work is required. State-specific licensure is required.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in dialysis is required. Preferred experience includes 3+ years in supervisory or project/program management roles. Licensure for therapeutic counseling and supervision is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as other web-based tools. Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to teach, strong organizational capabilities, excellent communication, customer service, relationship building, results orientation, team collaboration, and decision-making. Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance. Ability to work collaboratively with team members, motivate peers, and gather input in an unstructured environment.
