Logistics Planning and Forecasting Lead

Position Overview
As a key member of the Scheduling team, you will focus on enhancing the methodologies and solutions utilized for crafting truck schedules that fulfill our customer commitments daily. This team operates at the core of a larger workflow that initiates with network strategy and volume predictions, culminating in the precise allocation of trucks at designated times and locations.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
  • Identify and implement enhancements to the scheduling process, aiming to boost planning precision, automate execution, and streamline operations across Europe and the UK.
  • Collaborate with various internal stakeholders, including Program Teams, Operations, Supply Chain, and Forecasting, as well as Tech and Science teams, to refine our planning solutions.
  • Utilize your analytical capabilities to work extensively with data and KPIs, conducting in-depth analyses to uncover insights and drive improvements.
  • Develop processes to assess the financial implications of scheduling decisions, partnering closely with Finance, Programs, and Operations teams.
  • Challenge existing practices in scheduling and planning, leveraging data and research to tackle broader organizational challenges.
  • Lead necessary changes in collaboration with stakeholders, influencing their strategic roadmaps and decision-making processes.
  • Work alongside Tech teams and Applied and Research Science teams to assist in the development of essential tools and technological solutions, ensuring they align with business needs and support successful implementation.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert, fostering reliable and trustworthy partnerships with internal stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate findings and proposals in a clear and persuasive manner, both verbally and in writing.

A Day in the Role
As a Transportation Manager, you will spearhead the execution of innovative, data-driven transformations within Amazon, overseeing improvement initiatives and projects. Your strategic mindset will be crucial in defining and implementing effective project plans.

Transportation Planning Managers carry significant responsibilities, addressing complex challenges with creativity, innovation, and leadership. Beyond process enhancements, you may also contribute to advancing other facets of the business, such as diversity, equity, and inclusion.

About the Team
The Surface Transportation Scheduling team plays a vital role in formulating an accurate strategy for road transportation across the entire EU and UK Linehaul network. Our mission is to devise scalable solutions that determine the timing, location, and quantity of trucks required to deliver billions of packages to our customers promptly, efficiently, and at the lowest possible cost.

Basic Qualifications
  • A degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience leading cross-functional programs or projects utilizing project management methodologies.
  • Proven experience in leveraging data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions.
  • Experience managing complex projects with diverse stakeholders, including peers and leadership.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or SQL in a professional context.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced or master's degree.
  • Project management certification such as PRINCE2, APM, PMI, or similar.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean.
  • Experience in an operational environment or with technical teams.
