Role Overview
As a pivotal member of the Scheduling team, you will focus on enhancing the methodologies and solutions employed in crafting truck schedules that serve our clientele daily. This team operates at the core of a broader process that initiates with network planning and volume forecasting, culminating in the precise allocation of trucks at designated times and locations.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Identify and leverage opportunities to refine our scheduling practices while spearheading initiatives aimed at boosting planning accuracy, automating execution, and streamlining the scheduling process across Europe and the UK.
- Collaborate with diverse internal stakeholders, including Program Teams, Operations, Supply Chain, and Forecasting, as well as Tech and Science teams, to enhance our planning solutions.
- Utilize your analytical prowess to dissect complex data, elucidate KPI performance, and pinpoint opportunities for surpassing targets. Develop necessary analytics using tools such as Excel, Dashboards, and SQL.
- Establish processes to assess the financial implications of scheduling decisions in alignment with planning strategies, working closely with Finance, Programs, and Operations teams.
- Challenge existing paradigms in scheduling, planning, and execution processes, employing data and research to tackle broader organizational challenges.
- Drive essential changes in collaboration with stakeholders, influencing their strategic roadmaps and decision-making processes.
- Work in tandem with Tech teams and Applied and Research Science teams to assist in the development of tools and technological solutions that facilitate change, ensuring they meet business requirements and support successful implementation.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert, fostering reliable and trustworthy partnerships with internal stakeholders.
- Articulate findings and proposals clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.

As a Transport Planning Manager, you will lead and manage the execution of innovative, data-driven transformations within Amazon, overseeing improvement projects and initiatives. Your strategic thinking will be crucial in defining and implementing effective project plans.
Transport Planning Managers carry significant responsibilities, tackling complex challenges with creativity, innovation, and leadership. Beyond process enhancements, you may also contribute to advancing other business areas, such as diversity, equity, and inclusion.
About the Team
The Surface Transportation Scheduling team is integral to formulating accurate plans for road transportation across the entire EU and UK Linehaul network. Our mission is to devise scalable solutions that determine the timing, location, and quantity of trucks required to deliver billions of packages to our customers promptly, efficiently, and at the lowest possible cost.
Basic Qualifications
- A degree
- Relevant experience in leading cross-functional programs or projects utilizing project management methodologies
- Proven experience in employing data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions
- Experience managing complex projects with a diverse range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or SQL in a professional context.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced or master's degree
- Project management certification such as PRINCE2, APM, PMI, or similar
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies like Six Sigma or Lean
- Experience in an operational environment or with technical teams.
