Role Overview
As a key member of the Scheduling team, you will focus on enhancing the methodologies and solutions utilized for creating truck schedules that fulfill our customer commitments daily. This team operates at the intersection of a larger process that begins with network planning and volume forecasting, culminating in the precise scheduling of trucks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis: Examine intricate data sets to clarify KPI performance and uncover potential enhancements to meet elevated targets. Develop necessary analytics utilizing tools such as Excel, Dashboards, and SQL.
  • Cost Evaluation: Establish processes to assess the financial implications of scheduling decisions based on strategic planning, collaborating closely with Finance, Programs, and Operations teams.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and challenge existing practices in scheduling, planning, and execution processes by leveraging data and research to tackle broader organizational challenges.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Drive essential changes in collaboration with stakeholders, influencing their strategic roadmaps and decision-making processes.
  • Technical Collaboration: Work in tandem with Technology teams and Applied Science teams to aid in the development of necessary tools and technological solutions, ensuring they align with business requirements and facilitate successful implementation.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a trusted advisor, supporting teams and fostering reliable partnerships with internal stakeholders.
  • Effective Communication: Present findings and proposals in a clear and persuasive manner, both verbally and in writing.

Daily Responsibilities
In this managerial capacity, you will spearhead the execution of innovative, data-driven transformations within Amazon, leading improvement initiatives and projects. You will apply strategic thinking to devise and implement an effective project plan.

Transportation Planning Managers carry significant responsibilities, addressing complex challenges with creativity, innovation, and leadership. Beyond process enhancements, you may also contribute to advancing other business areas, such as diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Team Overview
The Surface Transportation Scheduling team plays a crucial role in formulating an accurate plan for road transportation across the EU and UK Linehaul network. Our mission is to develop scalable solutions that determine the where, when, and how many trucks are necessary to deliver billions of packages to our customers promptly, efficiently, and at the lowest possible cost.

Qualifications
  • A degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience leading cross-functional programs or projects utilizing project management methodologies.
  • Proven experience in using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions.
  • Experience managing complex projects with a diverse range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or SQL in a professional context.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced or master's degree.
  • Project management certification such as PRINCE2, APM, PMI, or similar.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean.
  • Experience in an operational environment or with technical teams.
