As a key member of the Scheduling team, you will enhance the processes and solutions utilized to formulate truck schedules that meet our customer demands daily. This team operates at the core of a larger workflow that begins with network planning and volume forecasting, extending all the way to securing trucks at specific locations and times.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis: Examine intricate data sets to elucidate KPI performance and pinpoint areas for improvement to achieve elevated targets. Develop necessary analytics using tools such as Excel, Dashboards, SQL, etc.
- Cost Evaluation: Establish processes to assess the financial implications of scheduling decisions based on strategic planning, collaborating closely with Finance, Programs, and Operations teams.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities and challenge the status quo in scheduling, planning, and execution processes by leveraging data and research to tackle broader organizational challenges.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Drive essential changes in collaboration with stakeholders, influencing their roadmaps and making strategic decisions.
- Collaboration with Tech Teams: Work alongside Technology teams and Applied Research teams to assist in the development of necessary tools and technological solutions, ensuring they align with business requirements and support their implementation.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a Subject Matter Expert, aiding teams and contributing to a reliable and trustworthy partnership with internal stakeholders.
- Effective Communication: Present findings and proposals clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.
Daily Responsibilities
As a Transportation Manager, you will spearhead and oversee the execution of innovative, data-driven transformations within Amazon, leading improvement initiatives and projects. You will employ strategic thinking to define and implement an effective project plan.
Transportation Planning Managers carry significant responsibilities, tackling complex challenges with creativity, innovation, and leadership. Beyond process enhancements, you may also contribute to improving other business areas, such as diversity, equity, and inclusion.
About the Team
The Surface Transportation Scheduling team plays a vital role in crafting an accurate plan for road transportation across the entire EU and UK Linehaul network. Our mission is to develop scalable solutions that determine where, when, and how many trucks are necessary to deliver billions of packages to our customers promptly, efficiently, and at the lowest possible cost.
Basic Qualifications
- A degree in a relevant field.
- Experience leading cross-functional programs or projects utilizing project management methodologies.
- Experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions.
- Experience managing complex projects with a diverse range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or SQL in a professional setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced or master's degree.
- Project management certification such as PRINCE2, APM, PMI, or similar.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean.
- Experience in an operational environment or with technical teams.
