As a key member of the Scheduling team, you will enhance the methodologies and solutions employed to formulate truck schedules that fulfill our customers' needs daily. This team is situated at the core of a larger process that initiates with network planning and volume forecasting, extending all the way to securing trucks at specific locations and times.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis: Scrutinize intricate data sets to elucidate KPI performance and pinpoint areas for improvement to meet elevated targets. Develop necessary analytics utilizing tools such as Excel, Dashboards, SQL, etc.
- Cost Evaluation: Establish processes to assess the financial implications of scheduling decisions in alignment with planning strategies, collaborating closely with Finance, Programs, and Operations teams.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities and challenge the status quo regarding scheduling, planning, and execution processes by leveraging data and research to tackle broader organizational challenges.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Propel essential changes in collaboration with stakeholders, influencing their strategic roadmaps and decision-making processes.
- Collaboration with Tech Teams: Work in tandem with Technology teams and Applied Research teams to assist in the development of tools and technological solutions necessary for driving change, ensuring they align with business requirements and facilitating their implementation.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a Subject Matter Expert, providing support to teams and contributing to the establishment of reliable partnerships with internal stakeholders.
- Effective Communication: Convey findings and proposals clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.
Daily Responsibilities
As a Transport Manager, you will spearhead and oversee the execution of innovative, data-driven transformations within Amazon, leading improvement initiatives and projects. You will employ strategic thinking to devise and implement an effective project plan.
Transport Planning Managers bear significant responsibilities, tackling complex challenges with creativity, innovation, and leadership. Beyond process enhancements, you may also contribute to advancing other business areas, such as diversity, equity, and inclusion.
About the Team
The Surface Transportation Scheduling team plays a pivotal role in formulating precise plans for road transportation across the entire EU and UK Linehaul network. Our mission is to develop scalable solutions that determine where, when, and how many trucks are required to deliver billions of packages to our customers promptly, efficiently, and at the lowest possible cost.
Basic Qualifications
- A degree in a relevant field.
- Experience leading cross-functional programs or projects utilizing project management methodologies.
- Experience in employing data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions.
- Experience managing complex projects involving a diverse range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or SQL in a professional context.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced or master's degree.
- Project management certification such as PRINCE2, APM, PMI, or similar.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean.
- Experience in an operational environment or with technical teams.
