Your Role as Director of Engineering Operations
At our locations, you will encounter modern and tailored marine systems for surface and underwater vessels – encompassing communication, navigation, reconnaissance, and command systems. Join us in integrating devices and subsystems into secure communication solutions or in developing the brain of a warship – the command and weapon deployment system. Your Responsibilities
- Lead a team of approximately 25 employees, ensuring the development and adherence to methodologies, processes, and tools within the Engineering Delivery Management and IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation, Qualification) disciplines.
- Oversee the strategic direction, skill planning, and professional development of the department.
- Provide suitable personnel resources with the necessary skills for project execution and proposal phases.
- Evaluate the engineering deliverability in proposals concerning development strategy, solution maturity, risk management, acceptance strategy, resource allocation, and effort estimation.
- Participate in project reviews as the engineering representative, promoting and establishing lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Manage the cost center, continuously enhancing the cost structure and coordinating the department-specific multi-year budget.
- Oversee the hiring process as a line manager, including creating job descriptions, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and developing onboarding and training plans.
- Support internal and external audits.
What We Are Looking For
- A completed technical degree (engineering or natural sciences) along with several years of professional and leadership experience in a technical environment.
- In-depth knowledge of tools and methodologies in the relevant technical domains, as well as project management.
- Business acumen related to cost center accounting.
- Familiarity with legal regulations (workplace regulations, accident prevention rules, occupational safety laws, etc.).
- Strong ability to motivate and develop team members.
- Excellent proficiency in both German and English, spoken and written.
