Director of Systems Engineering (m/f/d)
Based in Kiel
In Kiel and Wilhelmshaven, you will encounter modern and tailored marine systems for surface and underwater vessels – encompassing communication, navigation, reconnaissance, as well as command and control. This is the right place for you if you wish to integrate devices and subsystems into a secure communication solution or work on the development of the brain of a warship – the command and weapon deployment system. Your Mission
- Comprehensive disciplinary and technical leadership of subordinate employees and team leaders, including students, apprentices, and interns (approximately 50 staff members)
- Accountability for the development and adherence to methodologies, processes, and tools within the respective disciplines – Systems Engineering, IT Platforms, IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation, Qualification), Field Service
- Responsibility for the strategic direction, skill planning, and further development of the department
- Provision of suitable personnel resources with the necessary skills for projects, proposal phases, and product development
- Management of the cost center, continuous improvement of the cost structure, and alignment of the department-specific multi-year budget
- Support during internal and external audits
What We Look Forward To
- Completed technical degree (engineering or natural sciences), along with several years of professional and leadership experience in the technical field
- In-depth knowledge of tools and methodologies in the managed technical domains, ideally in conjunction with industry knowledge in the security/defense sector
- Business management knowledge related to cost center accounting
- Familiarity with legal frameworks (workplace regulations, accident prevention rules, occupational safety laws, etc.), particularly in the electrical domain
- High competence in motivating and developing employees
- Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
