Senior Sales Manager

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:

Drive and ensure sustainable and profitable sales growth along with market share expansion within designated customer segments and product lines by executing the adidas AG marketing and sales framework tailored to specific consumer demographics and target markets.

Your Role:

  • Oversee the RUNNING FIELD-FORCE team in Central (3+ FTEs)
  • Formulate and implement adidas' physical retail strategy, engaging with key European RUNNING EXPERTS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply and uphold adidas' strategic initiatives within assigned customer accounts and product categories.
  • Establish and nurture professional relationships with key decision-makers and buyers to position adidas as the 'preferred supplier'.
  • Act as an internal 'ambassador' for assigned customers, facilitating communication across all functions.
  • Craft account strategies, formalizing them in strategic account plans for approval by the (Senior) Director of Sales.
  • Lead and implement sell-in/sell-out strategies in alignment with account marketing plans.
  • Continuously track sell-out and inventory levels to ensure efficient and cost-effective supply to customers, while identifying and capitalizing on sales opportunities.
  • Negotiate and uphold adidas' trade terms and conditions.
  • Utilize market insights regarding competitive dynamics and trends in relevant distribution channels to guide purchasing decisions that foster adidas' sales growth.
  • Proactively create and manage innovative grassroots initiatives with customers to enhance brand perception and stimulate demand.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the client's digital capabilities as a comprehensive player in the wholesale digital marketplace.
  • Assist the (Senior) Director in strategic account management, including analysis and preparation of sales data, concept development, identification of opportunities, and market analysis.
  • Independently manage key accounts focusing on sales target planning, potential analysis, and sustainable market share growth.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to analyze customer-specific sell-out, sell-in metrics, and digital KPIs.

  • In-depth understanding of retail sales practices and the ability to devise practical assortment plans based on inventory turnover and sell-through rates.
  • Demonstrated mental agility, initiative, and determination.
  • Fluency in English and German (both written and spoken) is essential; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Digital mindset with a solid understanding of digital media.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • University degree in business administration or sports economics.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Sales, Sporting Goods, Product Marketing, or Account Marketing.
  • Industry experience in sports apparel, footwear, accessories, fashion, or FMCG.
