Position Overview

The Department of Social Ethics at the Faculty of Protestant Theology is seeking a (Senior-) Research Fellow (m/f/d) at 100% capacity. This role is initially limited to three years, with the possibility of extension for an additional two years within the framework of the ERC project.

About the Project

The Department is committed to advancing education and research on ethical, societal, and governance challenges associated with emerging technologies. The new ERC project, SIMTWIN, focuses on systematically identifying and analyzing the ethical and societal implications of utilizing Digital Twins in healthcare.

As health simulations and Digital Twins are still developing, their potential to transform existing notions of health, illness, and medical practice is becoming increasingly apparent. The project aims to explore how these technologies could redefine personal health concepts and influence healthcare policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research within the ERC project SIMTWIN.
  • Lead research initiatives alongside the Principal Investigator.
  • Design and implement empirical fieldwork.
  • Publish findings in international academic journals.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's degree and a PhD in ethics, theology, philosophy, social sciences, or law.
  • Published research in AI Ethics, social ethics, or technology ethics.
  • Familiarity with contemporary methods and theories in hermeneutics, science and society studies, empirical ethics, and governance.
  • A strong interest in transdisciplinary research questions and methodological debates in AI ethics.
  • Leadership abilities to guide research teams effectively.
  • Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
