Position Overview
The Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn is seeking a dedicated (Senior-) Research Fellow (m/f/d) to join the Department of Social Ethics within the Faculty of Protestant Theology. This role is part of the ERC project SIMTWIN, focusing on the ethical and societal implications of Digital Twins in healthcare.

Project Background
As technology evolves, the use of Digital Twins in health simulations presents both opportunities and challenges. The SIMTWIN project aims to systematically analyze these implications, exploring how such technologies may redefine our understanding of health, illness, and medical practice. This research will address the normative challenges posed by these advancements and contribute to the development of a comprehensive theoretical framework for health simulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research aligned with the objectives of the ERC project SIMTWIN.
  • Lead research initiatives in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
  • Design and implement empirical fieldwork.
  • Publish findings in reputable international journals.

Candidate Profile
  • A Master's degree with a PhD in ethics, theology, philosophy, social sciences, or law.
  • Demonstrated research publications in AI Ethics, social ethics, or technology ethics.
  • Familiarity with contemporary methods and theories in hermeneutics, science and society studies, and empirical ethics.
  • A strong interest in transdisciplinary research and discussions in AI ethics.
  • Proven leadership abilities in managing research teams.
  • Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
