Project Details:
We are currently looking for a dedicated individual to contribute to the ERC project SIMTWIN, based in Bonn. The SIMTWIN project aims to systematically identify and analyze the ethical and societal implications of utilizing Digital Twins in the healthcare sector.
Research Significance:
While many aspects of health simulations, including Digital Twins, are still developing, it is clear that these innovative technologies have the potential to transform existing notions of health, illness, controllability, vulnerability, representation, and embodiment.
For instance, if every individual possessed a digital representation that could predict health events in real-time, it would fundamentally alter their understanding of health, creating new interactions between their physical and digital selves. This shift would also influence medical practices and health policy considerations, leading to significant changes in current national and European healthcare governance frameworks.
Core Objectives:
The primary goal of SIMTWIN is to conduct a thorough and comprehensive analysis of the normative challenges presented by these technologies, ultimately aiming to develop an integrated theory of health simulations.
By proposing a robust and empirically-based framework for ethical and societal evaluations of Digital Twins, SIMTWIN will facilitate the design of practical strategies for managing their use in healthcare.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct research within the ERC project SIMTWIN
- Lead research initiatives alongside the Principal Investigator
- Develop and execute empirical fieldwork
- Publish findings in reputable international journals
Your Qualifications:
- A university degree (Master) with a PhD in ethics, theology, philosophy, social sciences, or law
- Published research in AI Ethics, social ethics, technology ethics, or fundamental ethical inquiries
- Familiarity with contemporary methods and theories in hermeneutics, science and society studies, empirical ethics, and governance
- A passion for current transdisciplinary research questions and methodological discussions in AI ethics
- Proven leadership skills in managing research teams
- Excellent proficiency in both oral and written English
