Climate Risk Analyst – Enterprise Risk Management

Overview of the Division:

The Risk division is responsible for identifying, monitoring, assessing, and managing both financial and non-financial risks in alignment with the firm's strategic objectives and risk appetite. This division plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the firm effectively navigates expected and unexpected risks that could adversely affect its operations. Risk professionals are essential to the firm's operations, executing daily risk management tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while employing top-tier risk management tools and frameworks. They are characterized by their analytical curiosity, commitment to excellence, and readiness to tackle challenges. Successful collaboration with executive management, business units, control departments, and technology is crucial.

The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department oversees a comprehensive range of risk capabilities, ensuring that leadership has a holistic view of the firm's risk profile, which encompasses both financial and non-financial risks. This facilitates informed strategic planning and decision-making regarding risk. ERM is also involved in evaluating and planning new business initiatives, managing emerging risks, and governing the division's frameworks and processes.

Position Summary:

The Climate Risk team spearheads the firm's approach to monitoring, assessing, and managing risks related to climate and the environment. This involves evaluating the firm's exposure to both physical and transition risks through its balance sheet and assessing the potential impacts on overall operations. Climate Risk professionals are tasked with executing essential risk management activities, leading projects, and enhancing the firm's climate and environmental risk management program.

The team collaborates closely with various departments within Risk and engages with groups across the firm, including the Executive Office, Controllers, Global Banking & Markets, Asset and Wealth Management, and Risk Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily operations and strategic initiatives of the Climate Risk program.
  • Prepare submissions for regulatory bodies as part of ongoing supervision and examinations.
  • Stay informed about the evolving regulatory landscape, providing insights to shape the Climate program's development.
  • Support the integration of climate and environmental considerations into first and second lines of defense processes.
  • Contribute to the formulation of the Risk Appetite Statement framework, including limit calibration and monitoring reports.
  • Collaborate with quantitative teams to leverage climate risk models and scenario analysis for portfolio risk assessments.
  • Manage internal risk frameworks and processes, including risk identification efforts.
  • Prepare materials for Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee meetings, regulatory submissions, and external disclosures.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders across Sustainable Finance, Controllers, and Regulatory Affairs.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the Financial Services or Banking sector, or in the ESG and sustainability field.
  • Interest or background in sustainability and climate-related risks, along with knowledge of the European and Global regulatory landscape.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is essential.
