Risk professionals engage in essential daily risk management tasks, thriving in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while utilizing top-tier risk management tools and frameworks. The teams are characterized by their analytical curiosity, resilience in facing challenges, and a steadfast commitment to excellence. Effective collaboration with executive management, business units, control departments, and technology is crucial for achieving success.
The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department oversees a comprehensive range of risk capabilities, ensuring that both Risk and divisional leadership possess a holistic view of the firm's risk profile, which encompasses both financial and non-financial risks. This comprehensive perspective aids in strategic planning and informed risk decision-making. ERM is tasked with evaluating and planning new business initiatives, managing emerging risks, and governing the division's frameworks, processes, and capabilities, along with regional and legal entity governance.
Role Summary:
The Climate Risk team spearheads the firm's strategy and framework for the monitoring, assessment, and management of climate-related and environmental risks. This involves evaluating the firm's exposure to both physical and transition risks through its balance sheet and assessing the potential impacts on firmwide operations. Climate Risk professionals carry out essential daily risk management functions, lead significant projects, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of a robust climate and environmental risk management program.
The team collaborates closely with various sectors within Risk and engages with numerous groups across the firm, including the Executive Office, Controllers, Global Banking & Markets, Asset and Wealth Management, and Risk Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily operations and strategic objectives of the Climate Risk program.
- Prepare regulatory submissions as part of ongoing supervision, regulatory examinations, and other compliance requirements.
- Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape, providing insights and guidance to shape the development of the Climate program.
- Support the integration of climate and environmental considerations into first and second lines of defense processes.
- Contribute to the formulation of the Risk Appetite Statement framework, including the calibration of limits and monitoring of utilization reports.
- Collaborate with the quantitative team to leverage climate risk models and scenario analysis to inform portfolio risk assessments.
- Manage internal risk frameworks and processes, including risk identification initiatives.
- Assist in the preparation of materials for the Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee, regulatory submissions, and external disclosures.
- Foster relationships with key stakeholders across the Sustainable Finance Group, Controllers, Office of Government and Regulatory Affairs, and Legal.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 1-3 years of experience in the Financial Services or Banking sector, or in the ESG and sustainability domain.
- Interest or background in sustainability and climate-related risks, along with knowledge of the evolving European and Global climate and environmental regulatory landscape.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is essential.
