Climate Risk Analyst – Enterprise Risk Management

Divisional Overview:

The Risk division is dedicated to identifying, monitoring, assessing, and managing both financial and non-financial risks to align with the firm's strategic objectives and risk appetite. This division plays a pivotal role in the organization, shaping how risks are approached and managed. Risk professionals engage in essential daily risk management tasks within a dynamic and fast-paced environment, leveraging top-tier risk management tools and frameworks. The teams within this division are characterized by their analytical curiosity, commitment to excellence, and readiness to tackle challenges. Effective collaboration with executive management, business units, control departments, and technology teams is crucial for achieving success.

The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department oversees a variety of risk capabilities to ensure that leadership has a holistic view of the firm's risk profile, encompassing both financial and non-financial aspects. This comprehensive perspective supports strategic planning and informed risk decision-making. ERM is responsible for evaluating and planning new business initiatives, managing emerging risks, and governing the division's frameworks and processes.

Job Summary:

The Climate Risk team spearheads the firm's strategy for monitoring, assessing, and managing risks related to climate and environmental factors. This involves evaluating the firm's exposure to both physical and transitional risks through its balance sheet and assessing potential impacts on overall operations. Climate Risk professionals carry out vital daily risk management functions, lead significant projects, and contribute to the enhancement of a robust climate and environmental risk management program.

The team collaborates closely with various sectors within Risk and across the firm, including the Executive Office, Controllers, Global Banking & Markets, Asset and Wealth Management, and Risk Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in daily operations and strategic initiatives of the Climate Risk program.
  • Prepare regulatory documentation as part of ongoing supervisory processes and examinations.
  • Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape, providing insights and guidance to shape the development of the Climate program.
  • Support the integration of climate and environmental considerations into first and second lines of defense processes.
  • Contribute to the design and calibration of the Risk Appetite Statement framework, including monitoring utilization reports.
  • Collaborate with quantitative teams to leverage climate risk models and scenario analysis for portfolio risk assessments.
  • Manage internal risk frameworks and processes, including risk identification.
  • Contribute to materials for Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee meetings, regulatory submissions, and external disclosures.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders across various departments, including Sustainable Finance, Controllers, and Regulatory Affairs.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the Financial Services or Banking sector, or in the ESG and sustainability field.
  • Interest or background in sustainability and climate-related risks, with knowledge of the European and Global regulatory landscape.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required.
