EU Surface Transportation Planning Lead

Role Overview: As a pivotal member of the Scheduling team, you will enhance the methodologies and solutions utilized in crafting truck schedules that meet our customers' daily needs.

Operational Context: The team functions at the core of a larger framework that initiates with network planning and volume forecasting, extending to the precise scheduling of trucks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement enhancements in scheduling processes while driving initiatives aimed at boosting planning accuracy, automating execution, and simplifying the scheduling workflow across Europe and the UK.
  • Collaborate with various internal stakeholders, including Program Teams, Operations, Supply Chain, and Forecasting, as well as Tech and Science teams to refine our planning solutions.
  • Utilize analytical skills to interpret complex data and KPIs, conducting thorough research to communicate findings effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Engage in strategic decision-making, influencing stakeholders and driving necessary changes within the organization.
  • Support the development of tools and technological solutions in partnership with Tech and Applied Science teams, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert, fostering reliable partnerships with internal stakeholders.

A Day in the Role: As a Transport Planning Manager, you will spearhead the implementation of innovative, data-driven changes within Amazon, leading various improvement projects and initiatives.

Impact and Responsibilities: You will tackle complex challenges with creativity and leadership, contributing to broader business areas such as diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Team Overview: The Surface Transportation Scheduling team is crucial in formulating accurate plans for road transportation across the EU and UK Linehaul network, aiming to develop scalable solutions that optimize truck deployment for timely and cost-effective deliveries.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional programs or projects utilizing project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency in using data to influence business decisions.
  • Experience managing complex projects with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite and/or SQL in a professional setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced or master's degree.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, PMI).
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean.
  • Experience in operational environments or with technical teams.
