Role Overview
As a pivotal member of the Scheduling team, you will enhance the methodologies and systems we employ to develop truck schedules that fulfill our customer commitments daily. This team functions at the core of a broader process that begins with network design and volume estimation, extending to the precise allocation of trucks at designated times and locations.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Identify and implement enhancements to our scheduling processes while spearheading initiatives aimed at boosting planning precision, automating execution, and streamlining scheduling practices across Europe and the UK.
- Collaborate with diverse internal stakeholders, including Program Teams, Operations, Supply Chain, and Forecasting, as well as Tech and Science teams, to refine our planning solutions.
- Utilize analytical skills to work extensively with data and KPIs, conducting thorough analyses to communicate insights effectively to a broad range of stakeholders.
- Transform complex and ambiguous challenges into cost-effective and simplified solutions, influencing stakeholder decisions.
- Lead the development of tools and technological solutions in partnership with Tech teams and Applied Science teams, ensuring alignment with business requirements and supporting successful launches.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert, fostering reliable and trustworthy relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Present findings and recommendations clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.
A Day in the Life
As a Transport Planning Manager, you will champion and oversee the execution of innovative, data-driven changes within Amazon, leading various improvement projects and initiatives. Your strategic thinking will be essential in defining and implementing effective project plans.
Transport Planning Managers carry significant responsibilities, tackling complex challenges with creativity, innovation, and leadership. Beyond process enhancements, you may also contribute to advancing other business areas, such as diversity, equity, and inclusion.
About the Team
The Surface Transportation Scheduling team is crucial in devising accurate plans for road transportation across the entire EU and UK Linehaul network. Our mission is to create scalable solutions that determine the timing, location, and quantity of trucks required to deliver billions of packages to our customers promptly, efficiently, and at the lowest possible cost.
Basic Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you should possess:
- A relevant degree.
- Experience in leading cross-functional programs or projects utilizing project management methodologies.
- Experience in leveraging data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions.
- Experience managing complex projects with a diverse range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or SQL in a professional context.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have:
- An advanced or master's degree.
- A project management qualification such as PRINCE2, APM, PMI, or similar.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean.
- Experience in an operational environment or with technical teams.
