PhD Researcher in Neuroimmunology

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate PhD Student to join our team in the field of Neuroimmunology. This role is an exciting opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research at the intersection of neuroscience and immunology.
Research GroupThe successful candidate will be part of the 'Translational Neuroimmunology' research group, led by Dr. Róisín McManus. Our group is affiliated with leading institutions and focuses on the critical role of microglia in neuroinflammation and its implications for Alzheimer's disease.
Research FocusYour research will aim to elucidate how microglia-mediated neuroinflammation influences the progression of Alzheimer's disease. We will investigate the interplay between immune signaling and metabolic alterations that affect microglial function.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct experiments using various animal models of dementia and murine cell culture.
- Utilize state-of-the-art laboratory techniques, including metabolic assays, flow cytometry, fluorescence imaging, RNA sequencing, and biochemical methods.
- Assess the impact of dietary factors on microglial activity through in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro approaches.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Master's degree in immunology, neuroscience, biology, or a related field.
- Experience in experimental animal research and knowledge of immunology or neuroscience.
- FELASA accreditation is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in cell culture techniques and biochemistry methods.
- Fluency in English for effective communication and presentation of research findings.
