About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Researcher to join our team at the Chair of Quantum Optics at the Universität Siegen. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of groundbreaking methods to control trapped ions using high-frequency radiation and use them as an elementary switching unit (a qubit) in a quantum computer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, simulate, and construct an innovative experimental apparatus
  • Prepare and carry out experiments with trapped ions, data analysis, and publishing scientific results
  • Cooperate with national and international research partners and third-party funding agencies
Requirements
  • Completed university studies in physics (diploma, Master of Science) with a grade equal to or better than "good" (German grading scheme)
  • Sound knowledge of quantum mechanics
  • High level of interest in the task at hand, exceptional commitment, and initiative
  • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team from the fields of physics, computer science, mathematics, and electrical engineering
  • Very good knowledge of English
