We Are Looking For:At the Chair of Quantum Optics, we have pioneered innovative techniques for manipulating trapped ions through high-frequency radiation, utilizing them as fundamental switching units (qubits) in quantum computing. Our research focuses on advancing this system, laying the groundwork for new types of scalable quantum computers.
Within the Faculty IV: School of Science and Technology, we are seeking a researcher to join us under the following conditions:
- 100% workload = 39.83 hours per week
- Pay grade 13 TV-L
- Limited duration of 2 years
Your research will concentrate on innovative methodologies and techniques for quantum computing utilizing trapped ions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, simulating, and constructing advanced experimental setups
- Conducting experiments with trapped ions, analyzing data, and disseminating scientific findings
- Mentoring fellow researchers within the team
- Collaborating with national and international research entities and funding organizations
- University degree in Physics
- Doctorate in Physics
- Strong understanding of quantum mechanics
- A high level of interest in the project, exceptional dedication, and initiative, along with a robust ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
- International publications and engagement in academic exchanges (conferences, reviews, research reports, etc.)
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: experimental quantum optics with atoms, molecules, or solid-state systems, quantum information processing, laser spectroscopy and cooling, microwave technology, laser technology, optics, vacuum technology, control electronics, and automated experimental control
- Proficient in English
- Support for your scientific or artistic qualifications in accordance with the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (e.g., habilitation)
