Position Overview:At the Chair of Quantum Optics, we have pioneered innovative techniques for manipulating trapped ions using high-frequency radiation, utilizing them as fundamental switching units (qubits) in quantum computing. Our research focuses on advancing this system, laying the groundwork for next-generation scalable quantum computers.
We are seeking a dedicated researcher to join our team at the Faculty IV: School of Science and Technology, specializing in Experimental Quantum Optics.
- 100% workload = 39.83 hours per week
- Compensation: Pay grade 13 TV-L
- Contract duration: 2 years
Your research will center on innovative methodologies and approaches for quantum computing utilizing trapped ions. Responsibilities include:
- Strategic planning, simulation, and development of cutting-edge experimental setups
- Conducting experiments with trapped ions, analyzing data, and disseminating scientific findings
- Mentoring fellow researchers within the team
- Collaborating with national and international research entities and funding organizations
- Advanced degree in Physics
- PhD in Physics
- Strong foundation in quantum mechanics
- High motivation, exceptional dedication, and initiative are essential for success in this project, along with the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team
- Experience with international publications and academic collaborations (conferences, reviews, research reports, etc.)
- Desirable experience in areas such as experimental quantum optics with atoms, molecules, or solid-state systems, quantum information processing, laser spectroscopy and cooling, microwave technology, laser technology, optics, vacuum technology, control electronics, and automated experimental setups
- Proficient in English
- Support for personal scientific or artistic qualifications in accordance with the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (e.g., habilitation)
