We are currently seeking a highly skilled individual to lead our Audio Engineering department.

Role Overview

The Director of Engineering for Audio Technologies will oversee and coordinate the operations of the Audio engineering teams, including:

  • Leading the development of electroacoustic technologies and audio electronics across the business unit, encompassing speakers, microphones, amplifiers, and signal processing equipment.
  • Conducting necessary research and development to support both new product initiatives and ongoing maintenance.
  • Driving and managing the product development lifecycle to enhance market penetration.
  • Providing strategic leadership to Engineering Managers and teams to ensure Bosch maintains its technological edge in the market.
  • Managing project costs and timelines effectively.
  • Implementing Bosch’s development processes and standards within the engineering teams.
  • Facilitating collaboration with other Bosch divisions.
  • Identifying opportunities for superior product solutions.
  • Anticipating technological advancements and strategizing to lead in innovation.
  • Overseeing the technology portfolio across various business lines.
  • Direct Reports: 5 Managers, 2 Directors, Team size: 70.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering and Product Development
  • Oversee all engineering and product development activities for designated product categories.
  • Collaborate creatively with product management to identify and implement technologies that meet customer needs.
  • Engage with product management throughout the new product development process, from initial concept to market launch.
  • Work with management, production, and logistics teams to assess engineering feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Direct activities to design new products, enhance existing designs, and improve production methods.
  • Integrate design teams with supply chain and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop the technical skills and capabilities of the engineering function to be recognized as a competitive advantage.
Budget Management
  • Forecast departmental operating costs and manage budget preparation.
  • Understand and articulate the financial rationale for new product development initiatives.
  • Build relationships with technology providers and vendors.
  • Collaborate with Business Line and Product Managers to prioritize R&D efforts.
Management Duties
  • Supervise and review the work of engineering and technical staff.
  • Assess personnel needs and cultivate top talent.
  • Define and allocate work responsibilities.
  • Analyze technology trends and market demands to inform project planning.
  • Aim to establish world-class Engineering Centers of Excellence.
  • Identify critical skills necessary for achieving high standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Physics, with at least 10 years of design experience and 5 years in a management role.
  • Strong knowledge of acoustics and professional audio system design.
  • Experience with audio speaker design and transducer technology is preferred.
  • Proven ability to implement rapid product development techniques.
  • Familiarity with lean principles and engineering process control.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of financial principles related to product development.
  • Experience in personnel management and budget oversight.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
