About the Climate Sector Project:
The Climate Sector Project (CSP) is a key initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) aimed at contributing to the design and implementation of the Paris Agreement. Our mission is to integrate transformative approaches for low-emission and climate-resilient development into German and international development cooperation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on climate policy topics and prepare briefings, evaluations, talking points, speech drafts, and strategy papers
- Assist in reviewing project proposals related to greenhouse gas emissions reduction needs and options, activities of multilateral development banks in climate protection
- Contribute to the creation of publications and information materials on Germany's engagement in international climate policy and development cooperation
- Assist with ad hoc services on current project tasks for the BMZ
- Provide organizational support, including pre- and post-workshop preparation, meetings, webinars, presentation creation, participation and minute-taking in internal and external meetings, and events, as well as supporting knowledge management
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in at least the 3rd semester (preferably in a Master's program) in a relevant discipline related to climate change, climate policy, and/or development cooperation
- Good basic knowledge in the field of climate change and international climate policy, with some familiarity with topics like greenhouse gas emissions reduction, NDC development and implementation, national and international carbon markets, activities of multilateral development banks in the field of climate change, feminist development policy, and/or international climate negotiations
- Strong analytical skills, structured work approach, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to present relevant information concisely
- Initiative-taking, independent work, even under pressure, proficiency in German and English, and familiarity with MS Office programs (especially Excel)
