Position Overview
We are looking for a Lead Automation Specialist to enhance our operations. This role is crucial for troubleshooting, resolving issues, and optimizing control solutions for automated material handling equipment (MHE), including conveyor systems, sorting mechanisms, scanners, cameras, printing and application systems, scales, HMI systems, and control cabinets.

Your Responsibilities:
- Act as an expert for all control systems and sensors within the facility, actively monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing systems to ensure high equipment availability for internal stakeholders.
- Train technicians on the fundamentals of troubleshooting control systems to elevate the knowledge base at the site.
- Collaborate with the EU Controls network to enhance MHE performance metrics and provide internal stakeholders with visualizations and data.
- Participate in or lead projects aimed at continuous improvement of the EU Controls network.
- Ensure all systems are accurately documented and maintain precise backup libraries in collaboration with IT, EU Controls Engineering, and Operations Engineering.
- Work with global teams to support the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Provide support to other locations within the European network as needed.

Basic Qualifications

- A minimum of three (3) years of experience with PLC-controlled automation and troubleshooting in a continuous processing or manufacturing environment.
- A Bachelor’s degree or nearing completion within one year.
- Experience supporting various conveyor or sorting systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot in high-pressure situations.
- Proficient in reading and understanding code according to IEC standards and developing improvement strategies.
- Capability to interpret engineering drawings from mechanical and electrical disciplines.
- Experience in visualizing and monitoring material processing operations, material flows, and capacities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, Ignition, Visio, and AutoCAD.
- Strong communication skills in English and the local language, with a proficiency level of B2 or higher.

Preferred Qualifications

- Educational background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Information Sciences, or related fields.
- Understanding of ISO 13849 and 62061 standards.
- Familiarity with the EU Machinery Directive.
- Experience in a multi-site environment.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma and analytical process improvement techniques.
