About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Engineer to join our team at Amazon Logistik Werne GmbH - D12. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions that drive efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement automation solutions for material handling equipment, including conveyor belts, sorting systems, scanners, cameras, and other machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automation systems, ensuring high equipment availability for internal customers.
  • Train and mentor engineering technicians in fault-finding and preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Collaborate with the EU Controls Network to improve monitoring of MHE key performance indicators and provide visualizations and data to internal customers.
  • Participate in or lead projects to continuously improve the EU Controls Network.
  • Ensure that all systems are properly documented and accurate backup libraries are maintained in collaboration with IT, EU Controls Engineering, and Operations Engineering.
  • Work with global teams to support the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Support other locations within the European network as needed.
Requirements
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with SPS-controlled automation and fault diagnosis in a continuous processing or production environment.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or Bachelor's degree expected within less than one year.
  • Experience supporting various conveyor belt or sorting systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to read, understand, and develop improvement strategies for code written in IEC 61131-3.
  • Ability to read drawings from mechanical and electrical engineering fields.
  • Experience in visualizing and monitoring material processing operations, material flows, and capacities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, Ignition, Visio, and AutoCAD.
  • Communication skills (spoken and written) in English and local language with GER Stufe B2 or higher.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical or mechanical education in the field of information science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, etc.
  • Understanding of ISO 13849 and 62061.
  • Familiarity with the EU Machinery Directive.
  • Experience in an environment with multiple locations.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and analytical and process improvement techniques.
