The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is the externalfacing medical-scientific expert in Medical Affairs at AscendisPharma who communicates confidently about our products usingclinical and scientific expertise. The MSL is responsible foridentifying and developing relationships with key opinion leaders(KOLs) and educating all healthcare providers about the diseasestates and products in the Ascendis Pharma endocrinology pipeline.The position is remote and reports to the Head of Medical AffairsGermany and Austria.

Keyresponsibilities:

  1. Serve asthe field-based external facing medical representation of MedicalAffairs
  2. Create awareness of Ascendis Pharma inthe endocrinology community and communicate the potential ofTransCon technology to transform the practice ofendocrinology
  3. Maintain high level of medicalexpertise to support the portfolio/pipeline and relevant diseasestates (e.g., bone and growth)
  4. Providemedical/scientific presentations to both internal and externalaudiences
  5. Identify key opinion leaders (KOLs)and key organizations (e.g. professional associations, patientadvocacy groups) for disease states within ageography
  6. Identify the scientific needs ofhealthcare providers (HCPs), researchers, and patient advocatesimportant to patient care within ageography
  7. Develop and maintain a KOL engagementplan that fosters collaborative relationships withingeography
  8. Capture external insights about thedisease state, Ascendis portfolio and pipeline, and competitors andcommunicate to internal stakeholders in a timely and effectivemanner
  9. Build strong relationships with internalcolleagues (e.g., Market Access, Marketing, and Sales) by providingmedical expertise and support asneeded
  10. Collaborate with Internal MedicalAffairs colleagues to support regional deliverables (e.g.,scientific support, internal/externalpresentations)
  11. Participate with the developmentand implementation of the Field Medical Team strategic goals andobjectives
  12. Provide scientific support atmedical congresses to include participation in clinical datapresentations, scientific exchange at the medical affairs booth,and internal or external meetings
  13. Provideinternal onboarding and ongoing medical training for commercial andmedical colleagues
  14. Engage with externalresearchers as a primary contact with interest ininvestigator-initiated trials (IITs)
  15. Supportclinical trial operations to ensure success with planned andongoing clinical trials to include identifying, supporting, andregularly engaging clinical trial investigators, andsites.
  16. Document all relevant activities in theCRM platform
  17. Ensure understanding of andmaintain compliance with department and corporate policies andprocedures

MinimumRequirements:

  1. Minimum 2+years of pharmaceutical experience as a Medical Science Liaison (orsimilar role) required with a 4-year bachelor’s degree in HealthScience field is required (e.g., RN, PA, NP, RPh) or minimum oneyear of pharmaceutical experience required with a Doctoral degree(PhD, PharmD, or MD) or equivalent trainingpreferred
  2. Pediatric endocrinology,endocrinology or rare disease experiencepreferred
  3. Must be outgoing and appreciate theopportunity to interact with healthcare providers andresearchers
  4. Must have an incredible passion forpatients
  5. Strong oral and written communicationskills with a high capability to understand and effectivelycommunicate scientific and clinical information in virtual and livesettings is required
  6. Collaborates with a widerange of people to achieve results
  7. Ability towork autonomously to organize and prioritize one’s own workschedule
  8. Ability to make decisions which have asignificant impact on the department’s credibility, operations, andservices
  9. Ability to create materials such asreports and presentations and to present/speak to both internal andexternal groups
  10. Fluent in German languageskills, both written and verbal
  11. ExcellentEnglish language skills, both written andverbal
  12. Must live near airport hub withingeography
  13. Must possess a valid driver’s licensein the state of residence; must possess and maintain a satisfactorydriving record
