The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is engaged inscientific field work and its main goal is to build partnershipsand communicate with external clinical and non-clinicalstakeholders (physicians, pharmacists, hospital managers, boardmembers of scientific societies and other stakeholders) on an equalfooting about disease states, trends in patient treatment anddiscuss studies in the areas in which we operate and our productsto be seen as a trustworthy scientific contact andpartner.

Mainresponsibilities:

  • Developand maintain strong relationships with key clients and maintaincurrent clinical knowledge and published data and studies on theCompany's products, attend scientific meetings and conferences, andinform the Medical and Marketing teams of findings/newinformation.
  • Providing accurate and ad-freescientific information about approved and unapproved products andindications in response to unsolicited requests from healthcareprofessionals.
  • Respond to medical/technicalinquiries from healthcare professionals by obtaining, evaluating,and presenting quality information from internal and externalsources promptly.
  • Identify and map the keyexperts for potential collaboration projects and develop a plan tobest collaborate with the experts and build long-termrelationships.
  • Mutual scientific exchange ateye level to support and further develop customers' expertise inour clients' products and therapeutic areas and thus supportpatient care.
  • Speaker training and support forhealthcare professionals to maintain knowledge within the medicalcommunity about new therapies developed and marketed by ourclient.
  • Identify and pursue potential researchopportunities consistent with drug development objectives throughthe promotion of clinical research (e.g. non-interventionalstudies, registries, epidemiological projects, preclinical ortranslational research) in consultation with the Medical TA and therelevant business unit managers.
  • Collaboratewith external/internal research colleagues and medical advisors tosupport clinical sites and provide feasibility and siterecommendations by guidelines, internal policies andregulations.
  • At the request of theinvestigator: Mediation between potential researchers and thecompany in the submission of IST studies (Investigator SponsoredStudies).
  • Managing the contracting process forTIGs.
  • Provide medical support, training andcross-functional work (i.e. disease state and product) tocolleagues (e.g. sales representatives, etc.) asrequired.
  • Support Market Access Team activitiesas required.
  • Gain insights into the companythrough mutual scientific exchange at eye level to support strategyand future product or pipelinedevelopment.
  • Compliance with applicable dataprotection and compliance policies and the Code ofConduct.

Requirements:

  • Theability to understand, process, communicate and present scientificinformation at a high level.
  • Good knowledge ofthe clinical trial process and research infrastructure in thecountry in which the position islocated.
  • Project Management Skills - Ability tocomplete complex tasks within time frames and managemilestones.
  • Excellent interpersonalcommunication, negotiation skills and advanced presentationskills.
  • IT knowledge, particularly in usingMicrosoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Abilityto work independently in the field while contributing positively tothe central Medical Affairs and Global Brandteams.
  • External and internal customer focuswith strong networking skills and integration with healthcareprofessionals to ensure opportunities for localhealthcare.
  • Highest ethical standards and goodknowledge of industry standards including relevant codes ofconduct.
  • Willingness to travel whennecessary.
  • MD/Physician, PharmD, Pharmacist,PhD and other life sciences with solid medical/technical backgroundand demonstrated competencies in influence, clinical researchinsight, business and marketknowledge.
  • Experience as a medical-scientificcontact person in the pharmaceutical industry is desirable,preferably in the area of rarediseases/oncology.
  • Strong knowledge of raredisease and familiarity with relevant treatmentguidelines.
  • Fluent command of German andEnglish (oral and written), Knowledge of French iswelcome.
