The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is the externalfacing medical-scientific expert in Medical Affairs at AscendisPharma who communicates confidently about our products usingclinical and scientific expertise. The MSL is responsible foridentifying and developing relationships with key opinion leaders(KOLs) and educating all healthcare providers about the diseasestates and products in the Ascendis Pharma endocrinology pipeline.The position is remote and reports to the Head of Medical AffairsGermany and Austria.

KeyResponsibilities:
  • Serve as thefield-based external facing medical representation of MedicalAffairs.
  • Create awareness of Ascendis Pharma inthe endocrinology community and communicate the potential ofTransCon technology to transform the practice ofendocrinology.
  • Maintain a high level of medicalexpertise to support the portfolio/pipeline and relevant diseasestates (e.g., bone and growth).
  • Providemedical/scientific presentations to both internal and externalaudiences.
  • Identify key opinion leaders (KOLs)and key organizations (e.g. professional associations, patientadvocacy groups) for disease states within ageography.
  • Identify the scientific needs ofhealthcare providers (HCPs), researchers, and patient advocatesimportant to patient care within ageography.
  • Develop and maintain a KOLengagement plan that fosters collaborative relationships withingeography.
  • Capture external insights about thedisease state, Ascendis portfolio and pipeline, and competitors andcommunicate to internal stakeholders in a timely and effectivemanner.
  • Build strong relationships withinternal colleagues (e.g., Market Access, Marketing, and Sales) byproviding medical expertise and support asneeded.
  • Collaborate with Internal MedicalAffairs colleagues to support regional deliverables (e.g.,scientific support, internal/externalpresentations).
  • Participate with thedevelopment and implementation of the Field Medical Team strategicgoals and objectives.
  • Provide scientificsupport at medical congresses to include participation in clinicaldata presentations, scientific exchange at the medical affairsbooth, and internal or externalmeetings.
  • Provide internal onboarding andongoing medical training for commercial and medicalcolleagues.
  • Engage with external researchers asa primary contact with interest in investigator-initiated trials(IITs).
  • Support clinical trial operations toensure success with planned and ongoing clinical trials to includeidentifying, supporting, and regularly engaging clinical trialinvestigators, and sites. Participate in patient find activities asneeded.
  • Document all relevant activities in theCRM platform.
  • Ensure understanding of andmaintain compliance with department and corporate policies andprocedures.
MinimumRequirements:
  • Minimum 2+ years ofpharmaceutical experience as a Medical Science Liaison (or similarrole) required with a 4-year bachelor's degree in Health Sciencefield is required (e.g., RN, PA, NP, RPh) or minimum one year ofpharmaceutical experience required with a Doctoral degree (PhD,PharmD, or MD) or equivalent trainingpreferred.
  • Pediatric endocrinology,endocrinology or rare disease experiencepreferred.
  • Must be outgoing and appreciate theopportunity to interact with healthcare providers andresearchers.
  • Must have an incredible passionfor patients.
  • Strong oral and writtencommunication skills with a high capability to understand andeffectively communicate scientific and clinical information invirtual and live settings isrequired.
  • Collaborates with a wide range ofpeople to achieve results.
  • Ability to workautonomously to organize and prioritize one’s own workschedule.
  • Ability to make decisions which havea significant impact on the department’s credibility, operations,and services.
  • Ability to create materials suchas reports and presentations and to present/speak to both internaland external groups.
  • Fluent in German languageskills, both written and verbal.
  • ExcellentEnglish language skills, both written andverbal.
  • Must live near airport hub withingeography.
  • Must possess a valid driver’slicense in the state of residence; must possess and maintain asatisfactory driving record.
  • Estimated travel~50-75%.
