We are looking for a highly experienced and dynamic professional to join our senior leadership team as the Head of Strategic Projects and Executive Office who reports directly to the Chair & COO of Allianz Asset Management. This critical role involves working closely with the Chair of AAM and senior leadership colleagues to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Executive Office in line with the strategic goals and overall business objectives. We are looking for the incumbent to have exceptional organizational, strategic, and leadership skills, with a proven track record in executive support and office management within the financial services or asset management sector.

Key responsibilities will be:

Delivering on Strategic and M&A Projects:

  • Lead strategic initiatives and projects within Allianz Asset Management, monitor competitor and market activities
  • Provide strategic insights by maintaining an in-depth pulse on the asset and investment management industry landscape. Advise stakeholders on market trends, regulatory developments, and potential deal structures
  • Spearhead and provide functional expertise by overseeing all stages of any potential M&A process within AAM, from valuation and due diligence to negotiation and closing. Provide financial analysis and modelling support
  • Act as a key contact for AAM on ESG topics, and develop and maintain together with Allianz Group functions and AAM operating entities the segment-related sustainability strategy
  • Together with the Head of Finance monitor and steer business development indicators against targets and drive Strategic Dialogue and Planning Dialogue content as well as coordinate the process together with relevant Allianz Group functions

Act as Executive Office Head:

  • Be a "gatekeeper" and owner of strategic projects for Allianz Asset Management and serve as important sparring partner for Group, AAM Operating Entities, as well as to the Chair & COO, and for the entire leadership team of AAM
  • Oversee daily operations of the Executive Office, ensuring all activities are aligned with our strategic objectives
  • Support Allianz SE H8 Board member and AZSE H8 BD Business Division in the role as shareholder representative who is accountable and responsible for business development and results of the Asset Management segment
  • Guide communication between the Chair & COO, senior management, and key stakeholders and interface between Allianz Group and Asset Management Operating Entities
  • Coordinate and prepare materials for board meetings, executive presentations, and other critical discussions

Team Management

  • Manage and mentor executive office staff, encouraging a collaborative and high-performance work environment
  • Lead a team of Project Managers involved in driving regulatory and strategic change projects for Allianz Asset Management

Key Requirements:

Educational Background: Academic degree in business administration, Finance, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred

Experience: Minimum of 10 years' of experience in strategic business management, consulting, corporate development, investment banking, M&A, finance or a related role within the asset management or broader financial services industry

Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior executives and manage high-pressure situations
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning and M&A related project management, financial analysis, and change management within a corporate environment, preferably in the asset management, consulting, investment banking, or other financial services industry
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering large-scale strategic projects and change initiatives, driving sustainable business impact
  • Demonstrated mastery of the complexities of mergers and acquisitions, including deal structuring, negotiation, and financial modelling.
  • Strong strategic thinking and commercially driven, not only well versed in execution, but has vision to align to strategic growth plans, with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable strategies and initiatives
  • Outstanding communication skills with the capacity to forge and maintain strong relationships with C-suite executives, external advisors, the leadership team and industry figures.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
