About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Carbon Project Development Team. As the Head of Carbon Project Development, you will be responsible for the overall strategy and direction of the team, as well as the development and operation of a portfolio of forestry, agriculture, and renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of up to 10 cross-functional team members in the development and operation of carbon projects
- Coordinate project planning, timelines, financing, and reporting for a comprehensive carbon project portfolio
- Develop and implement strategic portfolio planning to meet volume and cost expectations
- Manage origination activities for new project development opportunities
- Interface with other teams, such as Legal, Finance, and Market Intelligence, to ensure seamless project execution
- Prepare and present project opportunities to the investment committee
- Build and maintain relationships with project owners, developers, technology providers, industry associations, multilateral organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders
- Participate in industry events and conferences to expand the project partner network
Requirements
- At least 7+ years of experience in climate change, preferably with experience in project management and development of CDM, VCS, and Gold Standard projects and methodologies
- At least 5+ years of experience as a team or department head
- Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think creatively
- Strong network of project developers, consultants, standards, and investors in the field of climate projects
- Experience in coordinating multiple complex projects and portfolio planning
- Excellent leadership skills, ability to lead and guide an interdisciplinary and multicultural team
- Excellent customer orientation and experience in key account management
- Excellent communication skills in English, German is a plus
