The Head of Project Portfolio Management will work closely with central functions, service lines, regions of AZS, in strong coordination with IT Demand unit in CIO area.
You will contribute to bring in financial transparency into Allianz Services' project landscape and support events like the yearly planning dialogue as well as quarterly forecasts.
Together with the Finance, Controlling and Pricing function you will also implement, run, and maintain budget decision processes.
You will gain a solid experience in an international and multicultural environment. The position offers an excellent platform to get broad exposure to different lines of business.
As Head of Project Portfolio Management, you will cover to design, implement, and operate PPM governance, processes, and tools for AZ Services project portfolio cycle. The goal is to be fully in line with respective Group Standards/ Functional Rules and OE Functional rules for Project Portfolio Management in a sustainable way.
What you do:
- Responsible for working with business stakeholders in prioritizing the Portfolio of Projects, maintaining the Portfolio, tracking their status, implementing relevant control and reporting to senior management. Set up a proper Project Management governance, reporting structures, documentation standards (linked to ASIDM) and tools, as well as managing projects according to Project Management principles, methodologies and technical tools.
- Facilitate the prioritization of the project proposals accounting for business impact, urgency, strategic value and expected benefit, Identify interdependencies between the project proposals.
- Ensure the involvement of key Functions, such as Controlling, Finance, Risk, Legal and Compliance, in the impact assessment of Project Proposals prior to approval: Conceptualize and implement jointly with the Global Performance Management function a quarterly project portfolio dashboard including key KPIs. Maintain the central project portfolio and deliver the main KPIs for the monthly Management Dashboard.
- Maintain a Project Portfolio covering for all Projects (IT and Non-IT).
- Monitor the progress of running Projects including synergy and dependency management across projects / project portfolios.
- Ensure relevant post controls are implemented, judge the business value of completed projects and report/escalate where necessary.
- Provide key stakeholders with timely assessment of the entire project portfolio and its performance and issues, if necessary, with recommendation of mitigation measures.
- Identify Information Risks arising in the IT Projects and ensure hand-over into Information Risk Management.
- Support Business Owners in prioritizing projects, maintaining the Portfolio of Projects, executing project governance, track project status and reporting to senior management.
- Support the EMT approval process (e.g. perform the pre-approver role, status tracking of ongoing approvals, challenge the business value of completed projects).
What you bring:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 8+ years hands on experience in Project Portfolio Management, Project Consulting or similar role.
- Solid experience in project management methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile), portfolio management frameworks (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2), and specific practices for portfolio planning, prioritization, resource management, risk management, cost and benefits management and performance measurement.
- Very good understanding of regulatory environments, controls frameworks, corporate requirements
- Strong communication skills, possessing an ability to clearly articulate messages in a structured manner.
- Previous experience in leadership with proven ability to lead direct and cross functional teams (lead by example). Team player who takes responsibility and seeks impulses for innovation.
- Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics and execution road map. Ability to clearly articulate messages, common vision / goal to a variety of audiences.
- Previous experience in business related functions (e.g. Sales, Operations, Claims, Underwriting, Investment Management, Asset Management, Consulting, Product Development, Finance, Market Management, Digital / Tech etc.) is a plus.
