We are seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology. As part of our junior research group, you will contribute to the discovery of novel natural products and their applications in antimicrobial research.

About the Project

Our team is focused on investigating interactions in the moss microbiome, a promising but understudied habitat for natural product discovery. You will collect bacterial strains from mosses, use bioinformatics to identify novel biosynthetic gene clusters, and characterize promising gene clusters experimentally to isolate and determine the activities of corresponding natural products.

Your Profile
  • Doctoral degree in life sciences or chemistry
  • Experience in natural product isolation/characterization or bioinformatics (genome mining, metagenomics)
  • Experience in working with plants is an advantage
  • High-resolution mass spectrometry and metabolomics skills are a plus
  • Data analysis and programming skills in Python are beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
