Postdoctoral Researcher

Job Description:

We are seeking an excellent and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join our junior research group Secondary Metabolism of Microbial Interactions. The successful candidate will be hosted in our group, led by Dr. Jethro Hemmann, and will contribute to the discovery of novel natural products in the moss microbiome.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect bacterial strains from mosses and use bioinformatics to identify novel biosynthetic gene clusters
  • Characterize promising gene clusters experimentally to isolate the corresponding natural products and determine their activities
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement new methods for natural product discovery
Requirements:
  • Doctoral degree in life sciences or chemistry
  • Experience in natural product isolation/characterization or bioinformatics
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
