We are seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology. As part of our junior research group, you will contribute to the discovery of novel natural products and their potential applications in medicine.

About the Position

This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment, collaborating with experts in natural product chemistry, bioinformatics, and microbiology. Your primary responsibility will be to collect bacterial strains from mosses and use bioinformatics tools to identify novel biosynthetic gene clusters in the moss microbiome.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze bacterial strains from mosses
  • Use bioinformatics tools to identify novel biosynthetic gene clusters
  • Characterize promising gene clusters experimentally to isolate natural products
  • Determine the activities of isolated natural products
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in life sciences or chemistry
  • Experience in natural product isolation and characterization or bioinformatics
  • Experience in working with plants is an advantage
  • Experience in high-resolution mass spectrometry and metabolomics is a plus
  • Data analysis and programming skills are beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills in English
