Position Title: Environmental Compliance Permit Writer

The Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Environmental Quality is in search of a skilled individual to fill the role of Environmental Compliance Permit Writer. The selected candidate will be tasked with the critical responsibility of assessing VPDES permit submissions and associated operational-design documents to ensure adherence to the Clean Water Act and Virginia State Water Law. This role involves the precise development and composition of enforceable permits within established timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of water quality science and wastewater management.
  • Possess a solid understanding of both state and federal environmental statutes.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrate a strong capability to interpret and implement intricate policies and guidelines.
  • Review and analyze applications and engineering assessments with expertise.
  • Exhibit proficiency in computer/database operations and relevant software applications.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

A background in environmental science, environmental engineering, or natural resource management is highly desirable.
