Student Role in Haptic Measurement Technology Development

Position Overview: This role is situated within the Body Electronics Advanced Engineering division at Mercedes-Benz AG. The focus is on the innovative pre-development of control elements that enhance user interaction and elevate the overall quality of vehicle experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in research and development of cutting-edge body electronics, sensors, lighting, and feedback technologies.
- Conduct measurements to assess haptic properties and contribute to the validation of new technologies.
- Participate in the optimization of haptic systems, enhancing their functionality and quality.
- Utilize tools for haptic effect development and engage in creative problem-solving.
- Collaborate with partners from both traditional industries and start-ups.
Specific Challenges:
- Understand and apply the IDM measurement principle.
- Enhance data transfer efficiency between software components.
- Refine the graphical user interface (GUI) of measurement robots for improved measurement preparation and analysis.
- Perform measurement tasks and engage in mechanical and soldering work.
- Research and procure systems and components relevant to haptic design.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field with a focus on design.
- Familiarity with Matlab and Simulink is essential.
- Experience in measurement and sensor technology is advantageous.
- Knowledge of command line interfaces, Linux, and networked systems is beneficial.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
