Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry
The Chair of Inorganic Chemistry II is offering a position for a Research Associate (m/f/x), contingent upon available resources. This role involves 75% of full-time weekly hours and is limited in duration, with the possibility of extension. The position provides an opportunity for further academic qualification, typically leading to a PhD.

Key Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Chair of Condensed Matter Neutron Spectroscopy, the successful candidate will engage in a project funded by the German Research Foundation. The main focus will be on:
  • Identifying and synthesizing new materials;
  • Growing crystals from aqueous solutions at varying temperatures;
  • Determining (thermo-)chemical properties;
  • Conducting structural characterization through powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction, as well as electron microscopy;
  • Operating and overseeing project-relevant equipment, including X-ray diffractometers and magnetometers;
  • Collaborating actively within a multidisciplinary team of chemists and experimental physicists.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a university degree (M.Sc., Dipl.) in chemistry or a related field, with experience in inorganic solid-state chemistry and synthesis. Essential skills include:
  • Foundational knowledge in crystallography and X-ray diffraction;
  • Understanding of solid-state physics and magnetism;
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken;
  • Creative and independent working capabilities;
  • A strong commitment to teamwork and responsibility.
