Lead Heavy Equipment Technician

Overview: The Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the activities and personnel involved in comprehensive maintenance and repair of heavy wheeled machinery. This role may require travel to various locations to conduct inspections and repairs on equipment being utilized or returned by operational units. Flexibility for overtime may be necessary.
Team Structure: This position supervises a team of Heavy Equipment Mechanics and Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanics.
Key Responsibilities: To excel in this role, the individual must competently execute the following duties:
Supervise a team of approximately 12 to 20 mechanics across TDA, Light, Medium, or Heavy Wheels workshops. Disassemble and reassemble machinery in accordance with Technical Manuals (TM). Conduct annual servicing of the equipment fleet. Execute a full spectrum of overhaul, repair, and maintenance for all Heavy Wheeled equipment at both Field and Sustainment maintenance levels. Inspect, repair, and replace components, engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies. Identify required parts using repair manuals and submit order requests for necessary components. Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on various wheeled equipment, including military and civilian engineering machinery. Undertake additional duties as assigned or requested. Demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting hydraulic and electrical diagrams and schematics. Exhibit experience in hydraulic hose fabrication. Mentor and train junior mechanics to enhance their technical skills. Maintain accurate daily timesheets and manning reports. All APS-2 contractor mechanics are expected to provide their own basic set of mechanic tools.Qualifications & Experience: The following qualifications are essential for this role:
High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years' experience as a heavy equipment mechanic is mandatory. 1-3 years of leadership experience is required. Military experience is advantageous. ASE certification or equivalent civilian training/certifications is preferred. Must meet and maintain all base access security requirements. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location. Must possess or be able to obtain a US Passport.Specialized Skills:
Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English is essential. Ability to analyze and interpret Army Technical Manuals related to vehicle maintenance and repair is necessary. Familiarity with GCCS-A, FEDLOG, and office software is a plus. Will be required to obtain a military driver's license (OF 346).Additional Considerations:

2) PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The role requires stooping, sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds independently (51+ with assistance), as well as manual dexterity and clear vision. Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively for up to a 48-hour work week.3) WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee will frequently walk, sit, use hands for handling or feeling, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and communicate verbally. Occasional standing is required, and the employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment may expose the employee to moving mechanical parts, high places, and outdoor weather conditions, with potential risks including electrical shock, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and radiation.
