The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead will oversee the maintenance and repair of heavy wheeled equipment, managing a team of mechanics and ensuring timely completion of tasks. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret technical manuals and perform complex repairs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team of 12-20 mechanics in the maintenance and repair of heavy wheeled equipment
- Perform annual service on equipment fleet and conduct thorough inspections to identify areas for improvement
- Oversee the repair and replacement of components, engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies
- Identify and order necessary parts, utilizing technical manuals and repair guides
- Mentor and train subordinate mechanics to improve technical skills and knowledge
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks, maintaining a daily timesheet and manning report
- High School graduate or equivalent
- 5+ years' experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, with 1-3 years' leadership experience
- Military experience preferred, with ASE certification or other civilian training/certificates
- Ability to meet and maintain base access security requirements, obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization, and possess a US Passport
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead will work in a fast-paced environment, frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high places, and outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to situations where risk of electrical shock and vibration exist, and must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
