Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for managing activities and personnel engaged in the full range of heavy wheeled equipment maintenance and repair.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 12 to 20 mechanics in the TDA, Light, Medium, or Heavy Wheels shops.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment, using technical manuals.
  • Perform annual service on equipment fleet.
  • Perform a full range of overhaul, repair, and service on all Heavy Wheeled equipment maintenance at the Field and Sustainment level of Maintenance.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace components, engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies.
  • Identify parts in repair manuals and place order requests for needed parts.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on various pieces of wheeled equipment, including military and civilian engineer equipment.
  • Mentor and teach subordinate mechanics to improve technical ability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • 5+ years' experience as a heavy equipment mechanic is required.
  • 1-3 years' leadership experience required.
  • Military experience is preferred.
  • ASE certification preferred or other civilian training or certificates.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a US Passport.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of GCCS-A, FEDLOG, and office programs is a plus.
  • Will be required to obtain a military driver's license (OF 346).
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively up to a 48-hour work week.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment

The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
