Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Level Artist to join our team at Wargaming. As a key member of our art team, you will be responsible for creating captivating and immersive level designs that bring our games to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement high-level art direction for levels, working closely with the concept team to realize new ideas.
  • Create and adapt existing assets to support the conceptual stage of level design.
  • Design and develop materials to push the boundaries of level prototypes.
  • Collaborate with designers, 3D artists, and lighting specialists to ensure cohesive and visually stunning levels.
  • Participate in the development of new tools and technologies to improve level production.
  • Engage in level population and production, ensuring efficient and optimized results.
  • Contribute to performance optimization and bug fixes to ensure seamless player experiences.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in the game industry as a Level Artist.
  • Strong knowledge of composition, aerial perspective, light theory, and color science.
  • Excellent modeling and texturing skills.
  • Proficiency in Maya, ZBrush, Photoshop, and Substance Painter (or similar software).
  • Basic understanding of gameplay and level design principles.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to receive and act on feedback.
  • Strong gaming experience and interest in computer games.
  • Initiative and resourcefulness in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of game level production processes, level optimization, and asset production methodologies.

Desirable Skills

  • Level conception sketches and vertical slice prototypes.
  • Knowledge and skills in Substance Painter & Designer.
  • Experience with Git or revision control systems.
  • Knowledge and skills in World Machine / Gaea.
