Manager of Application Engineering for Carrier Networks

Position Overview:
The Application Engineering Manager for Carrier Networks is a pivotal role within our organization, overseeing a dedicated team of Application Engineers (AEs) who serve as the technical authority for our product offerings. This position is essential for fostering strong relationships with key clients and the broader ecosystem of partners, including design consultants and installers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of AEs in delivering exceptional pre-sales support, including product recommendations, system design, and installation training.
- Ensure comprehensive post-sales assistance, including on-site support during installations and troubleshooting customer inquiries.
- Develop tailored system solutions, including Bill of Materials and technical drawings based on client specifications.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and commercial papers to support our product offerings.
- Design and implement training programs for internal teams and clients on Corning solutions.
- Advise clients on product applications, highlighting the benefits and value of our solutions.
- Provide constructive feedback to product development teams for continuous improvement.
- Conduct competitive analysis and report findings to enhance our market position.
- Facilitate field trials, defining success criteria and tracking customer engagement with new innovations.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure compatibility and successful implementation of our solutions.
- Encourage the development of smart tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
Managerial Duties:
- Guide team members in prioritizing tasks and ensure they receive adequate training and resources.
- Monitor team performance through established metrics and objectives.
- Develop a strategic vision for optimizing processes and lead change management initiatives.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and manage administrative responsibilities.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that values each member's contributions.
- Oversee recruitment and onboarding of new team members as necessary.
- Maintain open communication with stakeholders in related functions to ensure effective operations.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related technical field; a Master of Business is advantageous.
- Over five years of experience in the telecommunications sector.
- Strong analytical and technical skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships, addressing their needs through collaboration.
- Experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders with tact and professionalism.
- Demonstrated capability in driving organizational change across people, processes, and technology.
- Established connections within Commercial, Product Line Management, and Operations teams.
- Fluency in English, with additional European languages considered a plus.
Travel Requirements:
- Willingness to travel within the EMEA region, including potential travel outside this area for support purposes.
- Flexibility for short-notice travel, including overnight stays.
- Possession of valid travel documentation and a clean driving record is essential.
Work Schedule:
This position requires a minimum of a 40-hour work week, with additional travel time as needed. Weekend work may be necessary.
