Team Overview

The Risk platform serves as the independent oversight function at G999 DWS, with sustainability risk being crucial in our commitment to responsible business practices. This team spearheads sustainability risk management initiatives, ensuring that ESG factors are embedded in strategic decision-making and risk management protocols.

The role involves evaluating enterprise-wide risks collectively and aligning them across the organization, formalizing the Sustainability Risk Policy and Risk Appetite Statement, and playing a key role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing the Sustainability Risk Management Framework.

Key Responsibilities

As the Head of Sustainability Risk, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing a comprehensive sustainability risk management strategy that aligns with the organization's objectives and values.
  • Identifying, assessing, and prioritizing sustainability risks across the enterprise, including climate change, resource scarcity, social impact, and regulatory shifts.
  • Collaborating with various risk leaders and cross-functional teams to incorporate sustainability risk considerations into risk management practices, business operations, supply chain management, product development, and investment strategies.
  • Conducting regular sustainability risk assessments to evaluate potential impacts on financial performance, reputation, and long-term sustainability.
  • Staying informed on emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and best practices to proactively address evolving risks and opportunities.
  • Leading the design and implementation of effective risk mitigation strategies, controls, and monitoring systems.
  • Creating and delivering training programs to enhance employees' understanding of sustainability risks and their roles in managing them.
  • Managing and mentoring a team of sustainability risk professionals.
  • Producing regular reports and presentations for executive leadership and stakeholders, highlighting key sustainability risk insights and recommendations.
  • Engaging with external partners, industry associations, and experts to remain updated on sustainability risk developments and share knowledge.
  • Collaborating with communications teams to ensure transparent and effective communication of the company's sustainability risk management initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

We seek candidates with:

  • Extensive experience in risk management, sustainability risk, ESG, or related roles within the financial services sector.
  • A strong understanding of sustainability trends, regulations, and industry best practices, with the ability to translate these into risk policies and frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of identifying and assessing complex sustainability risks.
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing effective risk management strategies.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional project management skills, adept at managing and analyzing large datasets and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in the German language is a strong advantage; excellent writing and communication skills are essential.
  • A degree in a finance-related discipline or relevant professional experience.
