Position Overview
The Faculty of Humanities and Cultural Studies at the University of Passau is seeking candidates for the esteemed position of Chair of Philosophy (pay grade W3). The selected individual will be expected to represent the comprehensive field of philosophy in both teaching and research.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate a strong focus on the history of philosophy and possess expertise in theoretical philosophy.
- Exhibit a robust research portfolio, evidenced by internationally recognized publications and a well-established academic network.
- Show a proven track record in securing external funding and contribute to the faculty's development.
- Teach modules related to ethics and philosophy within Teacher Education Programs and various interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Engage in the philosophy of religion and participate in teacher education examinations.
- Deliver courses in both English and German.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a doctoral degree and demonstrate both pedagogical skill and academic excellence, typically evidenced by the quality of their doctoral research and subsequent achievements. A formal postdoctoral habilitation qualification or equivalent academic accomplishments is required. Candidates must also meet the age criteria as specified in relevant regulations.
